Six Flags Theme Parks

Six Flags Inc. is a company that has the largest chain of theme parks, water parks and animal parks across the United States, Canada, Mexico and Dubai. Founded in 1961, the company has provided innovative rides and attractions for people from all walks of life. Its attractions are based on well known cartoon characters and shows such as Looney Tunes, Justice League of America, Thomas the Tank Engine and The Wiggles. The company headquarters is located in New York City.

In the United States, Six Flags has over 27 theme parks across the country. There are 4 parks in California and Texas, 3 parks each in Georgia, New Jersey, New York, 2 parks in Oklahoma and 1 park each in Colorado, Illinois, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maryland, Massachusetts, Missouri and Washington. Six Flags also has its presence in Montreal, Canada and Mexico City.

Six Flags has rides and attractions in three different categories, Thrill Rides, Family Rides and Water Rides. Each ride is featured in its different theme parks. There are different roller coaster rides for the thrill seeker. There’s Tony Hawk’s Big Spin inspired by skateboarding legend, Tony Hawk. This ride can be found in Six Flags Over Texas and Six Flags Discovery Kingdom. Come 2009, a new ride called Sasquatch will be opening at The Great Escape in New York. For the family, there’s Thomas Town, themed after Thomas the Tank Engine. This attraction is featured in Six Flags Magic Mountain in Los Angeles and Six Flags Over Georgia. Wiggles World will also be opening for the whole family in 2009 at Six Flags Fiesta Texas. For water fun, you can enjoy Deluge, the tallest and fastest water coaster in Six Flags Kentucky Kingdom. In 2009, Six Flags St. Louis will be introducing Wahoo Racer, a six-lane waterslide. This is just a taste of what you can see and experience when visiting the different Six Flags theme parks.

When visiting your favorite Six Flags theme park, accommodation is made easy. Six Flags has partner hotels offering discount packages for both hotel accommodation and park tickets. Enjoy the different amenities the hotels have to offer while just being a hop, skip and a jump away from a Six Flags theme park.

In March 2008, Six Flags Inc. entered into a partnership with Tatweer, a member of Dubai Holding. Together they will develop Six Flags Dubailand. Dubailand is scheduled to open its doors to the public in December 2011 and is said to be a 5 million square feet project. This project is Tatweer’s contribution to Dubai’s Strategic Plan in making the region a hub for tourism, entertainment and leisure. With this partnership, they also intend to build hotels, water parks, restaurants and retail outlets to make Dubai a whole new travelling experience for incoming tourists and locals alike.

In April 15, 2008, Six Flags Inc. also entered into a one year exclusivity agreement with Gulf Finance House B.S.C., an Islamic Investment Bank. Under the agreement, Gulf Finance will pay for the exclusive right to license the Six Flags brand for theme park development in the People’s Republic of China. There is also a possibility for a construction of a Six Flags luxury resort in the region.
