Florida is well known as the theme park capital of the world. Theme parks are a favorite place for families to visit during the children’s school holidays or public holidays. Here you can be enchanted by fantasy inspired characters and attractions. So let’s take a look at the different theme parks you can visit in the state of Florida.
First stop, Orlando, Florida. Of course Walt Disney’s Disney World Resort must be the most popular theme park not only in the United States but in the whole world. It brags of four theme parks, namely, Magic Kingdom, Epcot, Disney’s Hollywood Studios and Disney’s Animal Kingdom Park. It also has two water parks, Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon and Disney’s Blizzard Beach. The resort/theme park also has recreational areas like a golf course, spa, jogging trail, watercraft rentals, playgrounds, bike rentals and a sports complex. Accommodation is a breeze since the theme park also has its own hotel, villas and even campsites on the premises.
On the southeast side of Orlando is another well known theme park, Universal Studios. The park has two theme parks, Islands of Adventure and Universal Studios Florida. The main theme of the park revolves around movies, comic book heroes, cartoons and children’s tales. Both parks feature fantastic rides and attractions. It promises to be full of fun and excitement every step of the way. Park tickets range from $73.00 to $99.99 depending on the ticket option you choose. You can also get a discount if travelling in a group of 15 or more. There are three hotels you can choose from namely, Loews Portofino Bay Hotel, Hard Rock Hotel and Loews Royal Pacific Resort. Each hotel is unique from the other so choose the hotel that best suits you.
Also in Orlando is Sea World which is an aquatic adventure park. Spreading over 200 acres of land, here you can enjoy animal shows, various attractions and exciting rides. It’s probably only in Sea World that you can experience close encounters with sharks, whales, sea lions, dolphins and other marine animals. You can enjoy rides such as Journey to Atlantis, Kraken, Wild Arctic Ride, Happy Harbor Rides and Skytower. The park opens at 9:00am and closing time varies from 6:00pm to 8:00pm depending on the time of year.
An educational theme park has to be The Holy Land Experience. It is like walking through Jerusalem in the time 1450 B.C. to A.D. 66. It has exhibits like The Scriptorium, Dead Sea Quimran Caves, Calvary’s Garden Tomb, Prayer Gardens, Crystal Living Waters and Smile of a Child Adventure Land, to mention a few. The park aims to bring the Bible to life to both Christians and non-Christians alike. Park hours is from 9:00am to 6:00pm Monday to Saturday.
A theme park with a different twist is Wannado City located in the city of Sunrise, Fort Lauderdale, Florida. This theme park allows children to choose from 250 different careers, aiming to teach kids about decision making. Kids can enjoy being a grown up during the visit to Wannado City. Although there are no fun rides at the park it promises to be an unforgettable and educational experience for children.
